One of the components of the pump that you should be aware of before buying is the pump shaft. When choosing a lance, there are two things to look for:
- The shaft is responsible for transmitting power during the operation of the drum pump and cannot be made of polymer.
- Due to the special design of the barrel pump, this pump does not use a mechanical seal.
Common Materials in Drum Pump Shaft
In general, columns are made of the following two materials, shown below:
- 316L Stainless Steel Column
- Hastelloy C alloy column
316L Stainless Steel Column
Although this steel is completely non-resistant to acids and chlorine, it is cheaper than hastelloy and is also resistant to resins and alcohols.
- 1.4404
- A200
- NPP Extra 2
- 316C12
- SUS316L
- 2348 SS
- 316 liters (easy)
Hastelloy C alloy column
Given that the price difference between Hastelloy shafts and steel shafts does not affect the overall price , drum pumps usually use the Hastelloy C shaft by default.
- Hastelloy C is an alloy made up of the three elements : nickel , molybdenum and chromium.
- This type of Hastelloy alloy has exceptional compatibility with corrosive liquids.
- This item is commonly used in areas with very high corrosion and heat.
